As you may have noticed, I have been crocheting a lot lately. But I've also done a bit of knitting. Recently I started working on a Lotus by Marie Wallin and I'm making good progress on the back. And I'm nearly done with finishing my Hey Mickey skirt, so hopefully I will be able to wear it soon.

The Summer Project (4)
It's been raining a lot, these last few days, so it doesn't feel much like Summer at the moment. However, it did give me lots of time to work on my Summer Project. I've finished another 3 cushions and did some crocheting on the bedspread too. I love the way it's all turning out. Also, I'm very much looking forward to embroidering another cushion while being on vacation in Austria (you can see this project at the far left of the rows of cushions in the bottom picture).

Granny Stripe Birthday Blanket
My middle sister loves blue, green and purple colors. Today she celebrated her 50th birtday and of course I wanted to make her something special for her birthday. I decided to make her a Granny Stripe Birthday Blanket, using Attic24's excellent tutorial and using yarn in my sister's favorite colors. I love the result, and what's more important, my sister loved it too!

Summer of 2011 Project (2)
Today I came across this sign about breeding swans, and a little further along I did indeed see a swan family, so that was fun to watch.
Today I also finished my crocheted cushion cover, which is part of my Summer of 2011 Project. I made this cushion cover by crocheting rows of double crochet, using a different color for each new row. Once I finished crocheting I then tied the ends together (2 at a time) into small knots. I didn’t bother weaving in the ends, because they would stay inside the cushion cover so they wouldn’t be visible anyway. I finished by closing the cushion cover by crocheting a row of single crochet and I love how it turned out :)

My Summer of 2011 Project
You may have noticed that every summer, I choose a summer project to work on. This summer project usually is a sweater (like this one from 2010 and this one from 2009). Every time I wear one of those summer sweaters, they remind me of that particular summer, which is nice! For my 'Summer of 2011 Project' I chose not to do a sweater - for a change - but to do an interior decoration project. When I like to work in a quiet place, I usually sit in this chair in our bedroom. The chair used to belong to my aunt Els and it later belonged to an uncle of mine, who gave it to me when he had to leave his house and move to an apartment. I'm very fond of this chair, but I think the chair and the space around it could do with some improvement, so that's why I made it the focus of my Summer of 2011 Project. The first picture shows you the 'Before' situation, and during this summer I will be sure to show pictures of my progress!
