Project Updates and New Books

 

 

 

Earlier this week, I bought some really nice books:

• 'Vintage thuis' by Dottie Angel and Ted & Agnes, and
• 'Naai je eigen tuniek' by Cecile de Chatillon, Maude Paray, and Pauline de Saint Lager (with very clear step-by-step explanations,  a real bargain! for only 6.90 euros at De Slegte/Polare in Haarlem).

I haven't touched my sewing machine for over a year, but I think that I will try to sew some new clothes this summer, so inspiration is always welcome.

Then I also have some knitting to show you. I finished another pair of socks, and I've been thinking about which sock yarn to choose for my next pair of socks (I do have plenty of sock yarn in my stash, as you can see).
I'm also making progress on my Flessengroen cardigan. I love this colour, it reminds me of my garden and I love my garden!

Tuindagen Vollenhoven 2013

Ook dit weekend nog worden de jaarlijkse Tuindagen Vollenhoven (op de grens tussen De Bilt en Zeist) weer gehouden, en voor mijn gevoel markeert dat altijd het officiele begin van de zomer. Helaas is het dit jaar nogal regenachtig weer, maar koud is het niet, en door het vochtige weer geurden de jasmijn en de rozen extra lekker (maar dat zie je aan de foto's natuurlijk niet af....)
Ook doen de varens het dit jaar opvallend goed.
En verder was er in de moestuin weer dezelfde hond als vorige jaren, die de bezoekers probeert te verleiden tot een spelletje stok-gooien.
Uiteraard was er weer van alles te koop en het was weer lastig kiezen, maar dit jaar schafte ik een prachtig handgemaakt vogelvoederhuis, een lieveheersbeestjestoren, en een potje bramenjam aan.
Ook morgen (zondag 23 juni) zijn de tuindagen nog te bezoeken.

Embroidery at Carla's Conditorie

If you happen to be in Utrecht and you like coffee and cake and embroidery (of even if you don't particularly like embroidery!) , then I suggest you visit Carla's Conditorie (located in the city centre, right next to the Dom). My friend C. and I met up there, and we spent quite some time admiring the interior of the shop (and drinking coffee and eating cake of course).
We also exchanged birthday presents that certainly didn't look out of place in this interior :)

Oostvaardersplassen

Vandaag was het best lekker weer, dus hebben we een stuk gewandeld bij de Oostvaardersplassen. Van alles gezien onderweg, en in de trein op weg naar huis nog een beetje kunnen breien :)

Yay, nice weather at last!

Like many others here in the Netherlands I was so happy that the weather here finally improved, and we could sit outside. And read there. And knit. And watch the birds taking a bath. And be watched by a blackbird sitting on her nest in the tree in front of our little bench (even though you can't see her, I can assure you she's there!).
As for knitting, I finished my Simple Chevron Shawl earlier this week and I'm pleased with the way it turned out. I also did some sock knitting and finished one pair that I was working on, the other pair is half way through. And I bought new yarn! I visited a shop in Amsterdam that I had never been to before (Handmade Heaven), but I will certainly visit them again. I bought some beautiful bright very pink yarn by Loret Kaman that I just couldn't resist (I don't know what the yarn wants to be yet). And I also bought this bright green yarn by Loret Karman, plust some of her mini skeins. Together they will become a cardigan, at least that's the plan. I spent some time figuring out how I will make the cardigan, and today I started knitting. To be continued...
