1 FO and 4 WIPs

Yes, I've got a Finished Object! and I don't think I've shown it here before.
The FO is a Summer Sweater that I knitted out of Katia Soda. And it's really unusual for me, but I didn't enjoy knitting this sweater. I just didn't like the yarn. It's very uneven, which made it hard to work with. I do like the finished result though, so that's good.

I still had a lot of skeins left, and my mother suggested trying crochet to see if that worked better with this yarn. So I decided to crochet a Summer Bag out of the rest of the yarn, and that's going pretty well.

So this Summer Bag is my first work in progress. My other WIPs are
  • my Schiermonnikoog 2014 Socks
  • the 2014 Summer Project (the small cross stitch table cloth) and
  • a small labrador cross stitch project (I've really been enjoying cross stitching lately!)

The 2014 Summer Project

I haven't shown you my 2014 Summer Project before, but this year my Summer Project is a cross stitch embroidery project.
And for those of you who know how much I like embroidered table cloths,  it may come as no surprise that I'm making another small embroidered table cloth... I have several of those already (some made by me, some made by others) and I like to use them when I'm sitting outside, in front of our house.

The cross stitch pattern that I'm making is a design by Sylvie Teytaud-Louche and it can be found in the absolutely gorgeous DMC agenda of 2009. It's not really a summery design, but I love the way it looks, and how it oozes peace and tranquility (at least, that's how it feels to me).

I already finished most of the embroidery, and what I want to do next is add a border (in the light green color) and add some text about when and where I made this project (as I usually do).

With a bit of luck I will have my summer project finished before the summer is over, that would be great, as I'm already looking forward to using this new table cloth. (Of course the weather would have to improve a lot first...)

Threads

Yesterday I went to the Museum Arnhem to visit the ‘Threads’ exhibition
On the photo’s you see work by Fransje Killaars (Zonder Titel [Muslim Garments India]), Célio Braga (Unveil, made out of information leaflets of medication), Chiharu Shiota (Life of Thread), and Merel Karhof (Wind Knitting Machine).
Of course I also visited the rest of the museum, and I particularly enjoyed a large painting by Leon Keer, and watching visitors interact with it.
After all that, I spent the rest of the afternoon with my daughter Jessica and her friend Mehtap, doing some shopping in Arnhem, and eating ice cream  :-)

Two FO's

Yes, I've got two FO's (Finished Objects) to show you.

The first FO is my new summer cardigan. I knitted it out of cotton (Catania) and the buttons were gifted to me by my friend Carolien. I love how it turned out. I finished it during my vacation in Boppard, and I'm wearing it all the time, this Summer.

The second FO is a small blanket that I crocheted out of acrylic yarn(Cotonet) that was gifted to me by my parents-in-law. They bought this (Spanish) yarn for me during their early summer vacation in Spain, and I crocheted this small blanket during our vacation at Schiermonnikoog. I think the blanket looks great with our yellow couch (which has buttons that sort of match some of the colours in the blanket).

You may be wondering if I'm working on a Summer Project too, this year, and the answer is yes, I do! I'm making good progress with it and I really like working on it. I'll see if I can post some pictures of it later this week :)

Vacation #2: Schiermonnikoog

Together with my mother and my two sisters and their families, we spent a lovely week at Schiermonnikoog (a small Dutch island in the north of the Netherlands).
