Alice in Wonderland Finished

And here she is, Alice in Wonderland is all finished! This was a kit by Bothy Threads. It came with the pattern, the floss and hand-dyed Aida fabric, but because I wasn't too kean on the fabric (it was nice, but it just wasn't my taste) I switched it out for a linen, and I stitched 2 threads of floss over 2 threads of linen. Now I just need to wash it, iron it and frame it, and then see if I can find a bit of free space on one of our walls somewhere...

Alice in Wonderland

Hi Marjon and Mirjam, so you both recognized what you see here! it is indeed Alice in Wonderland. As you can see Alice has now made an appearance too. At first I wasn't satisfied with the way her hand turned out. It looked a little weird to me, and I  knew it would continue to bother me. So I ripped it out and gave her a slightly different hand. The new hand still isn't perfect, but I think it looks better than before, so I will keep it like this.
This project is really going fast now. One more character to go, and Marjon already guessed it, that will be the Cheshire Cat!

Cross Stitch Update

December is always a busy month because of preparations for the Sinterklaas feast, and after that I got the flu, so that's why this is a late update.
I made some cross stitched presents for Sinterklaas, but I forgot to take pictures, so I can't show you those. Sinterklaas gave me quite a lot of skeins of DMC floss, some of which were incorporated into a picture. I now have enough floss to start two bigger projects that I've been wanting to do for some time.

I also gave myself the 'Little Red Riding Hood' pattern by The Prairie Schooler. I had been eyeing it for some time, and I think it's such a funny pattern.

And finally there is some progress to show on my current project. As you can see now a rabbit holding a watch and a caterpillar smoking a water pipe have emerged...

Cross Stitch and Verzamelaarsjaarbeurs

Yesterday I was at the Verzamelaarsjaarbeurs and this is what I bought:
I'm also showing you the cross stitch progress that I made this week (the first picture shows you what it looked like last week).
At the moment you can't really see yet where this is going, but next time it will be obvious I think. To be continued!

Weekend WIPs

These are my current active WIPs (Works in Progress); I've started working on my on an Emily Peacock cushion again, I'm working on a new cross stitch project, and I'm still knitting on my new sweater. I like to be able to switch from one project to the other, so this works well for me :-)

Knitting: Two Socks , One Shawlette and a New Start

I haven't done a lot of knitting these last few months, but this is what I have been working on:
  • A pair of socks out of sock yarn that I bought during our vacation in Heidelberg earlier this year (I seem to have lost the ball band, so I don't know which yarn I used).
  • An 'Annis' shawlette. The Annis pattern is a Knitty pattern and the yarn that I used is Rowan Fine Lace. I'm not very good at knitting nupps (= the thick 'bubbles' that are made by a combination of knitting several stitches into one stitch and using yarn-overs, and then knitting all this into one single stitch again), so I considered leaving them out or using beads. But I do like the way nupps look, so I decided to leave them in, and I used the crochet hook method to make my nupps.

  • And now I'm working on a sweater made out of the Manos del Uruguay Alegria that I bought at the Kemptener Wollparadies last month, and Lana Grossa Cool Wool bought at Modilaine in Utrecht. As you can see I haven't made much progress yet, but I do like how this combination of the colorful Alegria and the gray Cool Wool looks.

Three Cross-Stitch Finishes

This week I've got three cross-stitch finishes to show you:

Two of them were Eva Rosenstand/Clara Waever kits (nrs. 12-535 and 45-344 respectively) that I bought earlier this year. In the second kit I switched out the Aida fabric for an Evenweave fabric that I bought at the Handwerkbeurs earlier this month.

And then I also finished this little project (Haandarbejdets Fremme 30-6231) that I picked up last week at 'Handarbeiten Bruggesser', a small but very pleasant shop in Fuessen, Germany.

So now I'm thinking about what to start next...

Pfronten

I spent last week in Pfronten (in the south of Germany) and of course we visited some yarn shops too (in Fuessen and Kempten).
